What’s new in Media Sync Tool 2.1

Media Sync Tool 2.1 is all about continuity notes: the app now converts script supervisors’ PDF reports into clip-logging CSVs on its own, honours a verdict column you’ve verified by hand, and gets out of your way with smarter dialogs.

Convert notes PDFs to CSV

Many productions deliver continuity notes only as a PDF report. Media Sync Tool 2.1 converts those PDFs into logging-ready CSVs itself — several common report formats are recognised automatically, from classic facing-page continuity notes and ScriptE Editor Logs to daily editor’s logs, per-slate forms, and reports exported from a spreadsheet. Choose File ▸ Convert Notes PDF to CSV…, or click Convert to CSV… right on the empty Continuity Notes screen. The CSV always lands next to the PDF, no save dialog needed, and is revealed in Finder so you can review it before importing — converted reports carry estimated clip names, and those deserve a glance first. Your Take Verdict column is respected

Media Sync Tool normally determines each take’s verdict by scanning every column of the report for Good / NG marks. If your CSV carries its own Take Verdict (or Verdict) column — because an assistant already verified every take, or because it came from the app’s own PDF converter — that column is now treated as the authority: its value is used as-is, nothing is second-guessed from comments, and a blank cell simply means no verdict. The column appears in the mapping table like any other, pre-routed to the Take Verdict field. See Good / NG detection.

Smaller improvements

• Dialogs remember your folders. Every open and save dialog now reopens where you last were — with separate memory for input files (FCPXML, notes CSVs and PDFs) and export destinations.
• More verdict vocabulary. The Good / NG scan now understands the GD shorthand for a good take and FS for a false start, the editor-log marks FAV and BSF, and a plain great; a Sync column is recognised alongside Sound for MOS handling.
• Drop a notes CSV. The Continuity Notes screen now accepts a dragged CSV, so a report can be attached the same way an FCPXML starts a sync.
