Media Sync Tool - Privacy Policy
Last updated: 25 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the Media Sync Tool application and its Final Cut Pro extension (together, the “App”) handle information. The App is developed and operated by Vitalii Vashchenko (the “Developer”, “we”, “us”, “our”). Questions: support@msynctool.com.
In short. Media Sync Tool runs entirely on your Mac. Your media, Final Cut Pro projects, and continuity-notes files are processed locally and are never uploaded to us or anyone else. We do not collect your name, email, or account; we run no analytics, advertising, tracking, or crash reporting. Apart from links you choose to open in your browser or mail app, the only information that leaves your device is the purchase and subscription data needed to run in-app purchases — handled by Apple and RevenueCat using a pseudonymous identifier, never tied to your personal identity.
Information We Do Not Collect
- No account, name, email address, password, or login.
- No analytics, telemetry, advertising, attribution, or crash-reporting services of any kind. The App contains no such components.
- No tracking across apps or websites. The App’s privacy manifest declares no tracking (
NSPrivacyTracking = false) and the App does not request App Tracking Transparency permission. - No access to your location, camera, microphone, contacts, photos, or clipboard.
- No iCloud or cloud sync of your data.
Your Media, Projects, and Continuity Notes Stay on Your Device
The App reads only the files you explicitly open or drag in — your camera media, Final Cut Pro libraries and events, FCPXML files, and continuity-notes CSV files. All of this is processed in memory, on your Mac. Results (synced FCPXML and a Final Cut Pro metadata-definitions file) are written only to locations on your own computer: a temporary working folder, the destination you choose in a save panel, and Final Cut Pro’s local metadata-definitions folder. No file content is ever transmitted to us or to any third party.
App settings and preferences (your sync options, continuity column-mapping scheme, and similar choices) are stored locally on your device only.
The App interacts with Final Cut Pro on your Mac (via Apple Events) solely to read FCPXML files generated by Final Cut Pro and to deliver synced results. It does not control other applications.
Information Processed to Provide Purchases and Subscriptions
The App’s syncing and export features are unlocked by an in-app purchase or subscription. Purchases are handled entirely through Apple’s App Store, and subscription entitlements are managed for us by RevenueCat, Inc. To operate purchases and verify your entitlement, the following is processed off-device:
- Purchase history / subscription status — for example, which product you bought, purchase and expiration dates, and whether a subscription is active.
- A pseudonymous, automatically-generated identifier assigned by RevenueCat. We never set or send your name, email, or any personal account identifier, so this data is not linked to your personal identity.
- Standard device and operating-system information sent by the purchase software as part of normal request handling.
This information is used only to operate and validate your purchase and subscription (app functionality). It is not used for advertising or tracking.
Third Parties and Where Data Is Processed
Apple (App Store / StoreKit). Payment processor; provides and bills your purchase to your Apple Account. We never see or store your payment-card details. See the Apple Privacy Policy.
RevenueCat, Inc. Manages subscriptions and entitlements on our behalf; receives purchase history, a pseudonymous identifier, and device/OS context, processed on RevenueCat’s servers in the United States. See the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
When you tap links inside the App (this Privacy Policy, our Terms, the App Store, our support page, or a feedback email), your request is handed to your own browser, the App Store, or your mail app, and the destination’s own privacy practices apply. The App does not add tracking information to these links.
Legal Bases (EEA/UK Users)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we process the purchase information above to perform our contract with you (providing the paid functionality) and on the basis of our legitimate interest in validating entitlements and preventing abuse. We do not rely on consent-based tracking because we do not track.
Data Retention
We do not maintain our own database of users. Purchase and subscription records are retained by Apple and by RevenueCat under their respective policies for as long as needed to operate purchases, meet legal and tax obligations, and prevent fraud. Local app data remains on your device until you delete it (for example, by removing the App).
Your Rights
Because the App does not collect personal identifiers, we generally cannot identify an individual from the pseudonymous purchase data alone. Subject to applicable law (including the GDPR/UK GDPR and the CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of personal data, and to data portability. To make a request, contact support@msynctool.com; we will respond as required by law and may direct certain requests to Apple or RevenueCat where they act as the relevant data controller. We do not sell or “share” personal information.
Children
Media Sync Tool is a professional post-production tool and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will address it.
International Transfers
RevenueCat processes the purchase data described above in the United States. Where required, such transfers rely on appropriate safeguards (for example, Standard Contractual Clauses) provided by the relevant processor.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy to reflect changes to the App or the law. If a change is material, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide notice. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
